Giving Back Through Photography: Join Us as a Volunteer Trainer with Holdinghands Studio

Photography is a powerful medium that can tell compelling stories, capture moments in time, and even inspire social change. For many of us, photography is a hobby or a profession, but it can also be a way to give back to the community by volunteering our time and skills as photography trainers.

Volunteering as a photography trainer can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience, both for the trainer and the participants. Here are a few reasons why you should consider becoming a photography volunteer:

  1. Giving back to the community: By volunteering your time and skills as a photography trainer, you are giving back to the community and making a positive impact on the lives of others. You have the opportunity to empower people by teaching them a new skill and giving them the tools to express themselves creatively.

  2. Inspiring creativity and self-expression: Photography is a great way to inspire creativity and self-expression. As a photography trainer, you can help participants discover their own unique voice and perspective through the lens of a camera. This can be especially powerful for people who may not have had the opportunity to explore their creative side before.

  3. Building confidence and self-esteem: Learning a new skill can be a confidence booster, and photography is no exception. By teaching others how to take great photos, you can help them build their self-esteem and confidence in their own abilities.

  4. Creating connections and building community: Photography can be a great way to connect with others and build community. As a photography trainer, you can create a space for people to come together, share their experiences, and learn from each other.

  5. Making a difference: Photography can also be a way to make a difference in the world. By teaching others how to use photography to tell their own stories and raise awareness about important issues, you can inspire social change and make a positive impact on the world around you.

If you are interested in becoming a photography trainer, there are many ways to get involved. Here are a few ideas:

  1. Contact local community centres, schools, or youth organizations to see if they have a need for photography trainers.

  2. Offer to teach a photography workshop at a local library, community centre, or church.

  3. Reach out to organizations that work with underprivileged or marginalized communities, such as homeless shelters or refugee centres, and offer to teach a photography workshop.

  4. Start your own photography club or workshop and invite others in your community to join.

As a photography trainer, you have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of others while sharing your love of photography. By empowering others to express themselves creatively and inspiring social change, you can help create a brighter future for everyone.

At Holdinghands Studio, we are always looking for passionate and committed individuals who are interested in volunteering as photography trainers. Whether you are an experienced professional or a budding amateur, we welcome anyone who shares our vision of using photography to create positive change in the community.

If you are interested in volunteering as a photography trainer, we encourage you to reach out to us and learn more about our programs and opportunities. Together, we can use the power of photography to create a more empathetic and connected world.

    Hi Chin Hock
    新年快乐, 万事如意!
Wishing Team Holding Hands a Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year.
Warmest Greetings from Singapore Heart Foundation!

I am Ke Sin, Senior Assistant Manager for Partnership Development.
Singapore Heart Foundation (SHF) is a non-profit charitable organisation dedicated to combatting cardiovascular disease (CVD) with our community outreach efforts in prevention and awareness, we have been around for the last 55 years. It was founded in 1970 by a group of doctors and lay professionals. On top of our community outreach efforts, we have 3 Heart Wellness Centres that is taking care of over 3000 clients who are either health patients or at-risk patients with our services, providing them with community-rehab services etc. (SHF Overview 2024/2025: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU7vCfMF6MA)

In 2026, we hope to intentionally expand our focus on more regular educational and engagement activities to promote camaraderie amongst the cardiac rehabilitation beneficiaries as for many heart patients or at-risk patients, the impact is not only physical but emotional. Feelings of anxiety, isolation, or low mood are common, and if left unaddressed, can affect recovery and quality of life.

With that said, we are looking for like-minded organisations to help us grown our volunteering befriending support and our activities. Beyond structured programmes, many clients benefit from regular human connection – a familiar face who can teach or share their knowledge, enjoy a meal, or play a sport together. The good old days of kampong spirit.

Would you be keen to explore providing lessons for our heart patients and at-risk patients as part of volunteering?
